Cyient Wins Strategic Contract to Support Green Hydrogen Project in Bodø

Cyient, a global leader in intelligent engineering solutions, has been awarded a key contract to support GreenH Bodø in the development of a green hydrogen production and distribution facility in Langstranda, Bodø. The project is a joint initiative between GreenH, a Norwegian hydrogen infrastructure company, and Luxcara, a Hamburg-based asset manager focused on renewable energy investments across Europe.

The Bodø hydrogen facility represents a critical step toward achieving Norway’s green energy goals, particularly within the maritime and heavy transport sectors. Once operational, the plant will supply green hydrogen under a long-term agreement with Torghatten Nord AS to fuel the Vestfjorden ferries—a flagship initiative in Norway’s maritime decarbonization efforts.

Construction began in autumn 2024, and this collaboration marks a major milestone for sustainable hydrogen deployment in Northern Europe.

Cyient’s Role

Cyient will act as the Owner’s Engineer, providing detailed plant engineering and project execution support. Leveraging its proven expertise in green hydrogen and renewable energy systems, Cyient will help optimize project delivery and support GreenH through procurement, construction, and commissioning.

“We’re excited to partner with Cyient to bring our hydrogen vision to life in Bodø,” said Espen Lied, COO of GreenH. “Their technical depth will help us deliver a high-performance facility that enables direct production and bunkering of green hydrogen for maritime applications.”

“Green hydrogen is a critical enabler of the global energy transition,” added Espen Berg, Managing Director of Cyient Norway. “This facility is a world-first for maritime hydrogen bunkering, and we’re proud to contribute our engineering expertise to ensure its success. Our track record in efficient, cost-effective plant design makes us a strong partner for GreenH and Luxcara on this innovative project.”

A Key Milestone for Green Maritime Transition

The hydrogen plant in Bodø will serve as a model for other regions aiming to decarbonize marine transport. By integrating hydrogen production with bunkering infrastructure, the project simplifies supply chain logistics and supports Norway’s broader climate strategy.
