Lhyfe, a global leader in renewable hydrogen production, is set to launch its largest green hydrogen site in France at Le Cheylas, doubling its initially planned capacity. This facility, located on a former steelworks waste storage site in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, will produce up to 4 tonnes of green hydrogen per day with 10 MW of electrolysis capacity. The project aims to decarbonize both mobility, particularly through HYmpulsion’s hydrogen fuel stations, and local industry by replacing grey hydrogen. Green Hydrogen Production to Power Mobility and Industry The Le Cheylas facility is part of Lhyfe’s expanding network, which includes 11 green hydrogen production sites across Europe. Originally planned for 5 MW of capacity, the plant’s output has been increased to meet the high demand of the region, making it Lhyfe’s largest site in France, surpassing others in Bessières and Buléon. The facility is expected to begin operations by early 2026. Decarbonizing the Region's Heavy Transport and Industry The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, a pioneer in green hydrogen, has been at the forefront of projects aimed at decarbonizing transport and industry. Lhyfe’s hydrogen will support Zero Emission Valley (ZEV) and IMAGHyNE projects, addressing high-emission sectors such as heavy transport, metallurgy, and chemicals. A 10-year contract has been signed to supply HYmpulsion’s hydrogen stations in the Alps, with 600 tonnes of hydrogen to be delivered annually. European Support and Funding The Le Cheylas project has received €5.5 million in subsidies from the European Regional Programme’s Just Transition Fund, and an additional €0.75 million from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, as part of the IMAGHyNE project. These funds underscore the importance of hydrogen in achieving the region’s sustainability goals, particularly in improving air quality and promoting low-carbon industry.

Lhyfe, a global leader in green hydrogen production, and KEYOU, a technology pioneer in hydrogen combustion engines, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate hydrogen mobility across Germany and Europe. With Lhyfe's planned hydrogen production facility in Schwäbisch Gmünd, approximately 100 hydrogen-powered trucks will be operational between 2026 and 2030, supplied by KEYOU to regional customers. KEYOU will use Lhyfe's digital platform, Lhyfe Heroes, to showcase its hydrogen vehicle catalogue and engage with potential users. Expanding Hydrogen Production and Supply in Germany Lhyfe is constructing its largest green hydrogen production site near Stuttgart in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. This facility, set to be operational by the end of 2024, will produce up to 4 tonnes of green hydrogen per day (with a 10 MW capacity). The plant is powered by renewable electricity secured through a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with EDP Renewables. Lhyfe also announced earlier this year that it will supply hydrogen to four filling stations operated by H2 MOBILITY Deutschland from 2025, including two stations in Baden-Württemberg. Furthermore, Lhyfe's hydrogen will fuel the "H2-Aspen" industrial park and JETH2 hydrogen filling station, renamed MINT. Partnership for Hydrogen Mobility KEYOU, recognized for its cutting-edge hydrogen combustion engine technology, is spearheading efforts to convert existing diesel trucks into zero-emission hydrogen vehicles. The company offers a comprehensive service package, including vehicle conversion, maintenance, insurance, and fuel. In collaboration with Lhyfe, KEYOU plans to deploy up to 100 hydrogen-powered trucks by 2030, starting in Schwäbisch Gmünd and expanding to other regions in Germany. The estimated hydrogen demand for these trucks is approximately 1,000 tons per year. Together, Lhyfe and KEYOU will focus on developing regional hydrogen ecosystems that integrate hydrogen production, distribution, and heavy-duty vehicle deployment, with an initial focus on Baden-Württemberg. KEYOU will prioritize regions where green hydrogen is available, promoting the project through Lhyfe’s Heroes platform. A Shared Vision for a Greener Future in Heavy-Duty Transport "Hydrogen mobility will only make a real difference if the hydrogen used is green," said Pedro Bravo, Chief Sales Officer of KEYOU. "We are excited to partner with Lhyfe, a pioneer in green hydrogen, to support the deployment of our hydrogen truck fleets in regions where green hydrogen is available. This partnership opens up significant opportunities for the future." Luc Graré, Head of Central & Eastern Europe at Lhyfe, added: "This agreement with KEYOU completes our comprehensive hydrogen mobility offering in Germany, particularly in Baden-Württemberg. Together, with players like JET H2 and H2 MOBILITY Deutschland, we are making the energy transition a reality for transport operators."
