CPH2 Activates First Licensed Manufacturing Partnership with Hidrigin to Accelerate Electrolyser Deployment in Ireland

CPH2 (Clean Power Hydrogen) has officially launched its first licensed manufacturing partnership by submitting its full design and manufacturing documentation to Lisheen H2 Energy Park Limited, trading as Hidrigin. This milestone enables Hidrigin, along with its appointed manufacturing partner Jones Engineering, to begin preparations for local production of CPH2’s MFE220 electrolysers in Ireland under an existing 2GW licence agreement.

The submitted licence package is comprehensive, encompassing mechanical, electrical, process, and safety designs, a detailed bill of materials, and 3D layouts for the electrolyser and its sub-assemblies. The package marks the operational start of CPH2’s capital-light licensing model, which allows the company to scale its hydrogen technology through strategic partnerships, rather than owning and operating manufacturing facilities directly.

Jon Duffy, CEO of CPH2, stated:

“Activating our first licensee is a significant step forward in our commercial strategy. Our capital-efficient model enables rapid scale-up by leveraging the manufacturing expertise of local partners like Hidrigin and Jones Engineering. We’re excited to see the MFE220 move toward production in Ireland and anticipate strong momentum from additional licensees through 2025.”

Local Production Backed by Renewable Energy Ambitions

Under the 20-year agreement, Hidrigin plans to use the MFE220 electrolysers across its solar and wind projects in Ireland, contributing to the nation’s green hydrogen ambitions. Following the licence handover, Hidrigin and Jones Engineering are now advancing with key activities including staff training, supply chain coordination, and production planning.

Manufacturing is expected to begin in Q4 2025, with the first electrolysers operational in 2026.

Eric Whelan, CEO of Hidrigin, commented:

“This licence package is a critical enabler of our mission to integrate renewable energy with clean hydrogen production. CPH2’s technical detail and support give us a solid foundation as we ramp up operations with Jones Engineering. We’re confident in our roadmap to start production next year and to deliver Ireland’s first hydrogen units soon after.”

Supporting Scalable and Sustainable Hydrogen Deployment

This activation is a pivotal step in CPH2’s broader strategy to license and scale its Membrane-Free Electrolyser (MFE) technology globally. By focusing on technology development and licensing, CPH2 empowers local energy developers and manufacturers to accelerate green hydrogen rollout while minimising capital expenditure and enabling flexible market entry.
