Genevos, a leader in hydrogen fuel cell power systems, has partnered with NatPower-H, the developer behind the world’s first global network of green hydrogen refuelling stations for maritime use, to launch a revolutionary Hydrogen Vessel Configurator. This innovative tool is being unveiled just ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France, where Genevos will be featured as an ocean innovator.
Launched publicly on June 3, 2025, the Hydrogen Vessel Configurator is the first of its kind, designed to support ports, shipyards, and vessel operators in accelerating the transition to clean energy. It allows users to instantly configure hydrogen-powered vessels, offering tailored recommendations for powertrain sizing, product selection, and technology comparisons. Users can also access detailed assessments including capital expenditure (CapEx), total cost of ownership (TCO), and CO₂ emissions comparisons between propulsion technologies.
The maritime sector remains a significant source of environmental pollution. In 2022, emissions from maritime transport accounted for 13.5% of the EU’s total transport-related greenhouse gas emissions. Recognizing the scale of transformation needed to shift away from fossil fuels, Genevos and NatPower-H formalized their partnership in 2024 to help tackle the societal, economic, and policy challenges linked to the maritime energy transition.
“Launching this unique tool to the public demonstrates our shared commitment to sincerely supporting the maritime sector’s transition to clean and sustainable energy,” said Rebecca Sharp, Co-founder and CEO of Genevos. “We’re proud to provide access to actionable data that can kick-start new projects and define meaningful decarbonization strategies around the world.”
Genevos at UNOC3
Genevos will be showcased in the Green Zone of UNOC3, held from June 9–13, 2025, and open to the public from June 2. The event brings together global stakeholders to drive ocean conservation and sustainable use. Genevos has also been invited to present at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (June 7–8), where they will highlight their zero-emission hydrogen power solutions.
This collaborative launch between Genevos and NatPower-H represents a pivotal step in supporting global maritime decarbonization and reinforcing the role of green hydrogen as a cornerstone of sustainable ocean innovation.
