Lhyfe (Euronext Paris: LHYFE), a pioneer in renewable hydrogen production, has begun supplying green hydrogen to Essent, the Netherlands’ largest energy provider. The deliveries will fuel the GROHW project in Deventer, one of the first renewable hydrogen initiatives in the country to move from concept to implementation.
Essent, which supplies energy to around 2.5 million households and businesses, is leading several hydrogen-related projects, including GROHW, a collaboration with Nefit Bosch, Firan, and Witteveen+Bos. The initiative aims to create a new ecosystem for renewable hydrogen and test its applications in the built environment. At the project’s testing centre, operated by Nefit Bosch (part of the Bosch Group), Lhyfe’s hydrogen will be used to trial hydrogen boilers. Bosch plans to launch a “H2 Ready” combi boiler by 2029, capable of converting fully to hydrogen.
“This first delivery to Essent marks the launch of our commercial activity in the Netherlands, a priority market for us,” said Luc Graré, Head of Central & Eastern Europe at Lhyfe. “Working with the country’s leading energy supplier on a pioneering project like GROHW confirms both the momentum of the sector and the value of renewable hydrogen in decarbonising industry and mobility.”
Lhyfe, which already operates four production sites in France and Germany, delivered more than 470 batches of renewable hydrogen in 2024 with a 99% service rate. The company is also developing a 200MW project in Delfzijl, expected to start operations by 2030, to supply the chemical industry and connect to Europe’s hydrogen backbone.
