Lhyfe, one of Europe’s leading producers of renewable hydrogen, has strengthened its hydrogen logistics network with the addition of 10 new Type IV hydrogen transport containers from Hexagon Purus, further expanding one of the continent’s largest dedicated fleets for green hydrogen distribution.
The latest delivery increases Lhyfe’s fleet to 84 high-pressure hydrogen tube trailers, enhancing the company’s ability to transport renewable and RFNBO-certified hydrogen to industrial and mobility customers across Europe. The expansion reflects the growing importance of hydrogen logistics as demand for green hydrogen continues to rise.
Unlike many hydrogen producers that rely heavily on third-party logistics, Lhyfe has developed an integrated supply chain that combines hydrogen production, storage, transportation and digital fleet management. This approach enables the company to deliver renewable hydrogen to customers even in regions where local production facilities are not yet available.
The newly delivered containers, manufactured by Hexagon Purus, are lightweight composite Type IV trailers capable of transporting larger volumes of hydrogen at high pressure while meeting the stringent requirements for Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO). Lhyfe and Hexagon Purus also share a common strategic shareholder through Japanese investment group Mitsui & Co.
The logistics expansion supports Lhyfe’s rapidly growing production network. Since commissioning its first green hydrogen plant in France in 2021, the company has expanded to four operating production sites in France and Germany, all of which achieved RFNBO certification during 2025. With 21 MW of installed electrolysis capacity, Lhyfe expects to increase production capacity by approximately 70% during 2026.
To support deliveries across Europe, the company has established 15 hydrogen storage locations, partnered with four specialist hazardous-goods transport providers, and trained around 60 certified hydrogen drivers. Advanced digital management systems coordinate production scheduling, fleet utilisation, customer demand forecasting and delivery planning to optimise operations.
The investment comes as Lhyfe continues to scale commercial deliveries. During 2025, the company surpassed 1,000 hydrogen deliveries, while completing more than 850 deliveries across Europe, representing an increase of over 80% compared with the previous year. The company currently supplies renewable hydrogen in nine European countries and serves approximately 60 industrial and mobility customers.
Its customer base includes companies such as BMW Group, TEAL Mobility, H2 MOBILITY, Karp Kneip, and Essent, supplying hydrogen for applications ranging from fuel cell vehicles and heavy transport to industrial manufacturing.
Green hydrogen is increasingly being adopted as a decarbonisation solution in sectors where direct electrification remains difficult, including heavy transport, steelmaking, chemicals, refining and other energy-intensive industries. Reliable logistics have become a critical part of scaling the hydrogen economy, particularly while dedicated hydrogen pipeline infrastructure is still under development across much of Europe.
By continuing to invest in both production capacity and distribution infrastructure, Lhyfe is positioning itself to support the growing European market for renewable hydrogen and expand access to RFNBO-certified hydrogen as industrial demand accelerates.
