Uniper has entered into a nine-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a major international industrial gas producer, supplying green energy to drive decarbonization efforts in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr industrial region. The agreement will begin in 2025 with an initial supply of 25 GWh of hydropower, ramping up to 75 GWh annually from 2027 through 2033.
This green power will support the production of green hydrogen, accelerating the energy transition for key industrial operations in the region.
Carsten Poppinga, CCO of Uniper, commented: “This agreement highlights Uniper’s capability to meet the energy needs of our industrial customers while supporting their decarbonization goals. It also reinforces Uniper’s role as a reliable partner in the green energy transition, contributing to the restructuring of the energy sector and ensuring security of supply.”
The collaboration demonstrates Uniper’s growing commitment to carbon-neutral power, as the company continues to lead in green energy and hydrogen innovation.
Based in Düsseldorf, Uniper is a global energy company with a strong presence in Germany, the UK, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
