Fortum and P2X Solutions have signed a green hydrogen sales agreement, marking a key step toward building Finland’s hydrogen economy. Under the deal, P2X Solutions will purchase hydrogen produced at Fortum’s 2-MW Kalla test center in Loviisa, with plans to distribute it to end users across the country.
The partnership is designed to improve hydrogen logistics infrastructure in Finland and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon energy system. The Kalla facility is scheduled to begin commercial operations in the first half of 2026, serving as a testbed for clean hydrogen innovation and supply chain development.
“We are excited to partner with P2X Solutions to advance green hydrogen production,” said Satu Sipola, Vice President of Clean Hydrogen at Fortum. “While Finland’s hydrogen economy is still emerging, collaboration is essential to build momentum and develop efficient delivery models. This agreement enables real-world hydrogen distribution from our Kalla test center.”
Herkko Plit, CEO of P2X Solutions, emphasized the strategic importance of the deal: “As a pioneer in green hydrogen, P2X Solutions is committed to growing Finland’s hydrogen market in collaboration with other industry leaders. This agreement is a key milestone in our mission to deliver clean energy solutions to customers nationwide. We look forward to working closely with Fortum.”
The collaboration between Fortum, a leading Nordic energy company, and P2X Solutions, a frontrunner in Finland’s green hydrogen sector, demonstrates growing momentum in the country’s shift toward renewable fuels and decarbonized industrial solutions.
