Ohmium International Partners with HYGRO for Green Hydrogen Production in North Holland

Ohmium International, a pioneer in green hydrogen technology, has announced a new partnership with Dutch green hydrogen provider HYGRO. This collaboration kicks off with an innovative hydrogen production and distribution project at the EWEF Wind Park in Wieringerwerf, North Holland.

Scheduled to launch in 2025, this pilot project will integrate Ohmium’s advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers with HYGRO’s wind turbines. This setup not only facilitates the production of green hydrogen but also stabilizes the electricity supply to the grid despite variable wind conditions, thanks to the direct connection of the wind turbines to the grid.

The initial phase of the project will see the installation of 5.4MW of PEM Electrolyzers, with scope for future expansion. Ohmium and HYGRO aim to leverage their complementary technologies and shared vision for a competitive, integrated hydrogen production and distribution system. This system will support the ‘wind & solar to wheel’ value chain, which is pivotal in transitioning to a sustainable and fossil-free future.

Arne Ballantine, CEO of Ohmium, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing HYGRO’s commitment to solving green hydrogen distribution challenges. “HYGRO is making significant strides towards an integrated green hydrogen ecosystem in the Netherlands and the EU, and we are thrilled to contribute to this transformative project,” he stated.

Hugo Groenemans, CEO of HYGRO, highlighted the technical synergy between Ohmium’s PEM electrolyzers and HYGRO’s wind turbine technology. “Our collaboration with Ohmium is set to enhance the efficiency, affordability, and sustainability of green hydrogen production. We are eager to develop this energy supply chain across the Netherlands,” Groenemans said.
