Ballard Power Systems has secured a significant order for 15 megawatts (MW) of its fuel cell systems from a UK company specializing in renewable power solutions for off-grid applications. The order, expected to be fulfilled between late 2024 and 2025, consists of 150 units of Ballard’s FCmove®-HD+ 100 kW systems. This latest procurement marks a notable expansion in the business relationship between Ballard and its UK-based client, following previous orders totaling approximately 5 MW of fuel cell systems. Demonstrating the confidence in Ballard’s fuel cell technology for stationary power use, this initial order under a new multi-year supply agreement also includes an option for the client to acquire up to 296 additional systems by March 2026, potentially increasing the total to 446 systems.
David Mucciacciaro, Ballard’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about continuing the partnership, emphasizing the role of Ballard’s fuel cells in scaling the customer’s deployment of innovative hydrogen power units. Ballard’s fuel cell systems are increasingly recognized as viable, eco-friendly alternatives to traditional diesel generators, offering reliable, clean, and quiet power for various applications, including electric vehicle charging stations, film production, public events, and construction sites.
