P2X Solutions Begins Finland’s First Commercial Green Hydrogen Production in Harjavalta

P2X Solutions, a Finnish pioneer in green hydrogen, has officially launched Finland’s first commercial green hydrogen production at its Harjavalta plant, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition to clean energy.

Finland Moves from Hydrogen Plans to Reality

“With the Harjavalta plant now in commercial operation, Finland’s green hydrogen economy is moving from plans into reality,” said Herkko Plit, CEO of P2X Solutions. “I am extremely proud of our team for achieving this milestone together. Finland has the potential to become a global leader in clean hydrogen and synthetic fuels, and we hope many more projects will follow.”

Green Hydrogen: A Key Solution for Emission Reductions

Green hydrogen plays a critical role in reducing emissions by replacing fossil fuels across sectors such as shipping, aviation, and heavy industry. With new fuel regulations set to take effect in the coming years, companies are encouraged to act now.

“We advise businesses to adopt green hydrogen and e-fuels before regulations make them mandatory. Transitioning early will provide a competitive advantage and secure emission-free energy supply for the 2030s,” added Plit.

Expanding Finland’s Hydrogen Infrastructure

The Harjavalta plant has a 20 MW green hydrogen production capacity and includes a methanation facility, which will begin operations later.

P2X Solutions is also developing additional hydrogen plants in Joensuu and Oulu, targeting 40 MW of capacity in Joensuu and up to 100 MW in Oulu, further strengthening Finland’s role as a leader in renewable hydrogen production.
