Metacon Finalizes €7.1 Million Hydrogen Supply Contract for Major Romanian Electrolysis Project

Metacon AB has announced the finalization of a significant contract, valued at approximately €7.1 million (equivalent to roughly SEK 78.1 million), to supply equipment for a major hydrogen project in Romania.

The contract solidifies Metacon’s role as a key supplier for a 7.5 MW electrolysis plant being developed by Elektra Power SRL (Elektra). Metacon initially communicated its selection for this project on September 18, 2025, and the main contract package has now been formally signed by both parties.

This agreement marks a significant entry point into the Romanian market for Metacon, partnering with a recognized regional energy leader. The 7.5 MW electrolysis capacity indicates a substantial commitment by Elektra to green hydrogen production, a key component in the energy transition to decarbonize industry and transportation.

Christer Wikner, CEO and President of Metacon, expressed his satisfaction with the development, stating, “I am pleased to be able to announce finalisation of this important entry contract in Romania with the regional energy leader Elektra.”

This project is a critical step in the expansion of green energy infrastructure in Eastern Europe, reinforcing Metacon’s position in the rapidly growing European hydrogen sector.
