Lhyfe Partners with Euromekanik and Hystar to Advance Sweden’s Largest Renewable Hydrogen Projects

Lhyfe (EURONEXT: LHYFE), a European pioneer in green and renewable hydrogen production, has entered into a strategic partnership with Euromekanik, a leading Swedish hydrogen systems integrator, and Hystar, a Norwegian manufacturer of next-generation PEM electrolysers. Together, the companies will collaborate on Lhyfe’s two flagship projects in Jordberga and Vaggeryd, southern Sweden — each with a planned capacity of 10 MW, making them the country’s most advanced large-scale renewable hydrogen developments dedicated to the bulk market.

Accelerating Sweden’s Hydrogen Economy

The partnership is driven by a shared mission: to decarbonise Swedish industry and mobility while strengthening the nation’s energy independence.
Using renewable electricity and water electrolysis, the plants will produce green hydrogen for use across transport, logistics, and industrial sectors.

While some hydrogen consumers will eventually produce hydrogen on-site, many smaller industrial and mobility operators require a regional supply model. Centralised production sites, such as those planned in Jordberga and Vaggeryd, will enable efficient bulk distribution and support the rapid scaling of hydrogen use across southern Sweden.

Combining Expertise to Reach Investment Readiness

The collaboration unites three key players whose combined expertise spans the full hydrogen value chain — from design and engineering to production and delivery.

  • Lhyfe, a European leader in renewable hydrogen, operates four commercial production sites across France and Germany with 22 MW of total electrolysis capacity, all RFNBO-certified under the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive. Lhyfe entered the Swedish market in 2021 and operates one of Europe’s largest modern hydrogen trailer fleets, ensuring flexible supply across the continent.

  • Euromekanik, a well-established Swedish engineering company with over 50 years of experience in the energy and process sectors, will oversee the technical, financial, and contractual preparations leading up to the Final Investment Decision (FID).

  • Hystar, based in Norway, provides ultra-efficient PEM electrolysers powered by its patented technology, designed to enable scalable and cost-effective green hydrogen production.

Voices from the Partnership

“We are very happy to be a part of these hydrogen projects showing that the hydrogen market in Sweden is moving forward. We also look forward to a deeper cooperation with Lhyfe and Hystar,” said Peter Rydebrink, CEO of Euromekanik AB.

“We are grateful to Lhyfe for their trust in Hystar. This partnership demonstrates confidence in our technology and reinforces our shared goal of accelerating Europe’s energy transition through efficient and scalable hydrogen production,” said Fredrik Mowill, CEO of Hystar.

“We’re excited to enter this new stage for our Jordberga and Vaggeryd projects. The expertise of Euromekanik and Hystar gives us the confidence to move toward a Final Investment Decision and to deliver the green hydrogen Sweden urgently needs to reach its climate goals,” said Sara Wihlborg, Country Manager for Lhyfe Sweden.

A Step Toward Energy Sovereignty

Once operational, the Jordberga and Vaggeryd sites will serve as cornerstones in Sweden’s emerging hydrogen network, enabling local industries and transport operators to switch from fossil fuels to renewable hydrogen. The projects reflect a growing Nordic collaboration around hydrogen technologies — a key pillar in Europe’s broader strategy to achieve climate neutrality and energy security.
