Source3 Energy X Inc. (Source3X) and the Skeena Industrial Development Park (SIDP) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on establishing the Skeena Clean Hydrogen Hub at the Skeena Industrial Development Park in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada. This initiative aims to develop a substantial clean hydrogen and derivative fuel production center to cater to the increasing local and international demand for clean energy solutions.
Planned to be a major hub, the Skeena Clean Hydrogen Hub will utilize renewable and other clean energy sources to produce up to 50,000 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen or its derivatives such as clean ammonia, e-fuels, or sustainable aviation fuels each year. This development will support the global transition towards zero-carbon transportation and industrial processes.
Michael Pucci, Manager of the Skeena Industrial Development Park, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the project’s potential to introduce a significant new industry to the region. This industry not only promises substantial growth opportunities but also plays a crucial role in the decarbonization of various other industries across the region, supported by the Northern BC Hydrogen Hub.
Ayaz Khokhar, President and CEO of Source3X, emphasized the strategic importance of the Skeena Clean Hydrogen Hub as a cornerstone of the clean energy cluster being developed in Northern British Columbia. With Terrace acting as a major node for energy, road, and rail transportation in Pacific Canada, Source3X is poised to facilitate the decarbonization of heavy-duty transportation and other industries.
Source3X, based in Oakville, Ontario, is an independent developer of clean energy projects with operations expanding across British Columbia, Atlantic Canada, and Ontario. The company’s clean energy initiatives in British Columbia include gigawatt-scale clean electricity generation from wind energy, aimed at meeting the growing electricity demands of the province, alongside a strategic increase in clean hydrogen production across Northern British Columbia.
