NB Oljor Secures SEK 20 Million Grant to Build Green Hydrogen Refueling Station in Eskilstuna

NB Oljor AB has been awarded SEK 20 million from the Swedish investment program Klimatklivet to develop a green hydrogen refueling station in Eskilstuna, strategically located along the E20 transport corridor. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the station will play a key role in supporting the shift toward hydrogen-powered, zero-emission transport in the Mälardalen region.

Klimatklivet, aligned with the EU’s AFIR regulation (Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation), finances projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable mobility. Since 2015, Klimatklivet has granted SEK 16.8 billion, contributing to a total of SEK 40.3 billion in climate-focused investments across Sweden.

The upcoming station is designed to serve heavy-duty vehicles, buses, and eventually hydrogen-powered passenger cars. By expanding access to green hydrogen, the project aims to strengthen regional transport infrastructure and lower the barrier for logistics companies and public fleets to transition away from fossil fuels.

“We at NB Oljor are extremely grateful for this opportunity to help build the green energy infrastructure of the future,” says Filip Forsgren, CEO of NB Oljor AB. “For decades we’ve served customers across the region, and we deeply believe in the power of local action. The shift to clean energy is one of the most important challenges of our time. Hydrogen has enormous potential and will be a vital part of Sweden’s future transport and mobility system. As a responsible and modern company, we want to drive this transition wherever we can.”

With more than 50 years of experience in supplying energy solutions across the region, NB Oljor is now stepping into the rapidly growing green hydrogen sector. The Eskilstuna project marks the company’s first hydrogen station, with additional sites under consideration as part of a broader strategy to support Sweden’s national transition to fossil-free transportation.
