Nel ASA (OSE: NEL) today announced that it has been chosen as the technology provider for GreenH AS’s upcoming green hydrogen production facilities in Kristiansund and Slagentangen, two key projects supported by Enova. The partnership marks another important step in advancing Norway’s hydrogen infrastructure and accelerating decarbonisation in maritime, transport, and industrial sectors.
GreenH, a Norwegian developer of renewable hydrogen projects, focuses on building a network of distributed production sites designed to supply clean hydrogen directly to end users. By locating production close to demand, the company aims to reduce transport costs, improve energy efficiency, and strengthen regional value chains for green hydrogen.
The new facilities will each have a minimum capacity of 10 MW, with a combined output exceeding 20 MW of renewable hydrogen production. Once operational, the sites will supply industrial users and maritime customers, supporting the transition toward zero-emission operations along Norway’s coast.
“We’ve worked closely with Nel for some time to identify the optimal electrolyser technology for our projects in Kristiansund and Slagentangen,” said Morten Solberg Watle, CEO of GreenH AS. “Finalizing this agreement represents an important milestone for us. Nel’s proven expertise and Norwegian industrial base make them a strong partner as we take these projects forward.”
Under the agreement, Nel will deliver electrolyser systems, along with engineering and technical support. The final configuration, scope, and delivery schedule will be confirmed at a later stage as the projects progress through detailed planning and construction phases.
“We’re very pleased to support GreenH in developing regional hydrogen infrastructure across Norway,” said Håkon Volldal, CEO and President of Nel ASA. “These projects illustrate how local, distributed hydrogen production can play a key role in decarbonising multiple sectors while building a strong domestic hydrogen industry.”
Both projects form part of GreenH’s broader strategy to decarbonise Norwegian industry and transport through the rollout of scalable, renewable hydrogen production units — positioning the company as a leading player in the country’s emerging hydrogen economy.
